Our COVID-19 Policies
What have we been doing in Alert Level 4 and 3?
Prior to going into Level 4 we were lucky to have such amazing support from members and coaches who kept the club cleaned on an hourly basis. As a club, we invested $881 in additional cleaning supplies to ensure we had stock of sanitizer, soap, hospital grade disinfectant, gloves, extra mops and buckets and cloths. We keep our club clean and we had not long before had our annual working bee, so it was easy for us to increase our cleaning and ensure the safety of our gymnasts.
We are proud that during lockdown we managed to keep our staff paid 100% with the assistance of the MSD Wage subsidy, and club resources, all a time where we had no revenue coming in. We wish to also thank our landlord at this time who substantially reduced our rent to assist, as you will be aware our overheads to be in such a well equipped facility are high so this really helped. During the time we also applied for other funding and investigated other ways we could save money at this time.
We continued to work hard so that upon return we would be in a position to focus solely on our gymnasts. Some of the successes during this time include the launch of our fantastic new website, take a look if you have not already seen this. 4 of our coaches successfully completed their Elementary Coaching qualifications, and others continued working on online modules. Our coaches tuned in to various workshops throughout including a balance is better session, child safety modules, character strengthening workshops and joined on many shared sessions to gain new skills.
Our competitive gymnasts continued to train each week via zoom sessions with their coaches, ensuring they followed conditioning sheets and kept working on core skills. We offered 52 Live sessions for recreational and preschool to keep gymnasts engaged, these were viewed by an average of 500 people each time. We also posted daily challenges on our members page Monday to Friday to keep us connected with you. Badge challenges were posted on our Trampoline Hub page. Thank you to the members who were able to stay connected with us, our coaches very much appreciated the posts and comments on facebook.
We kept working on policy documents in the background, including successfully holding our AGM virtually. Our committee has continued to meet virtually to ensure our governance at this time. We have continued to consult, and be updated, regularly with Gymnastics NZ, other clubs in NZ, Sport Manawatu, PNCC and Sport NZ in addition to staying fully up to speed with Government, MOH and Worksafe requirements to ensure that we maintained our ability to be able to get back into the gym quickly once given the green light.
We have also managed to keep moving on some equipment plans for the future and have just had new flood lighting installed at the gym. We have a new sign going up on the corner and a banner for our front fence coming.
We hope that by sharing some of this you can see how committed we are to getting back into the gym. It has been wonderful for us getting messages from our members who are equally excited to be back with us.
